Mai Family Scholarship and Earlin Nuss Memorial Scholarship
Through the generosity of the Mai family and the Earlin Nuss family, two scholarships are available to students who are confirmed members in good standing of St. John Lutheran Church in Russell, Kansas.* Special consideration is given to those applicants who have been active in the worship life and youth activities of the church. Mai Family Scholarship applicants may receive awards for no more than four years, and must apply annually. The Earlin Nuss Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to one graduating senior. Those receiving the scholarship may not apply again. |
Applicants must be:
1) a 2025 High School graduate with a passing grade for the most recent semester of high school (as evidenced by transcript);
OR
2) a full-time student at any college/technical school, maintaining a passing grade in at least 12 credit hours for the most recent semester/session at any college/technical school (as evidenced by transcript).
Applicants may complete ONE application for either (or both) the Mai Family Scholarship or the Earlin Nuss Memorial Scholarship. All applications must be submitted no later than Tuesday, July 1, 2025. Notification of awards will be made in writing to each recipient. Awards will be presented directly to the educational institution.
*According to St. John Lutheran Church By-laws, a "member in good standing" is a confirmed member that has communed and given of record during the current year or preceding calendar year.

Character Reference defined as 1) an active member of St. John Lutheran Church AND 2) an adult not related to you - reference name and contact information; explanation of how you know the reference
